For me, I have a secure lock on my social security number. This ensures that if some tries to use my identity no access will be gained. The credit reporting agency will have to call me with the number I assigned to my account.

  2. Some practices that I would take to insure that I am not a target is to create a password that is secure. I make sure I make passwords no one can figure out. Things like your birth date or name can easily be found out. Another thing you should do is not add personal information. Things like where you live, work, where you are going, or how much you make at work.

  7. First of all, manage all accounts carefully. Log out every time, keep the password secretly. Most importantly, before I post something online, I always make sure there is no private information. Even though some post I just share with my friends, I will make sure it will not hurt me if it goes to public.

I think that those two information to protect my finance safety and identification safety, because theft of internet often happen for money. Also personal safety is more important than loss money, especially for the girl, do not meet with stranger at privacy place in the beginning and come with friends that is better than come alone. Log out your account on public computer or device that is a important habit to keep you safe.

  11. Never underestimate the value of a secure password and network. Posting personal information such as your social security number, phone number or address, sometimes even posting your full name can make you a target for identity theft. Posting that you’re leaving town on a vacation, or using gps apps to update your current location can make you a target for theft. Simply guarding your personal information can keep you safe on the web.

  12. First of all, log out carefully, make sure you have correctly logged out and never save your password on a public computer. For your personal computer, you may. And create a password little bit complicated using numbers, letters, and upper and lower cases, therefore it will be harder for hackers to hack into your account. And before you write down your personal info, such as, as for online shopping, before you make your purchase, make sure the website you are using is legit, have actual contact information, secured by legal companies and so on. I always double check whatever website i’m using for all purposes, like an information or a shopping or a research, whether it is legit, or if something happens I am able to track it down, and reach out to someone who is in charge.

I actually have been a target of this aleady. A couple of years ago, a few members in my family have received phone calls from someone claiming it was me and needing money because I was stuck in Mexico. Needless to say, my family was well aware of this scam and nothing happened.

What I have done in social media are a few things to try to ensure my security. I usually change my password every ninety days on all accounts. I try to not post things that are too personal especially when it comes to finances or business related topics. I do not put all my private information like phone number. I utilize their secure settings to approve posts. I am active a few platforms rather than all social media sites. Lastly, if I make any purchases online, I do not use a debit card, only a credit card for protection.

  18. To protect one’s self from threats on social media websites there are definitely actions one could take to do so. You can look through the sights functions with more depth and apply the settings you see fit to your liking instead of using the default settings. You should be able to regulate what information you post and apply not giving to much for people to take advantage of. Change passwords every so often, and regulate those you do not know and try to connect only to those you definitely know of.
